Oakville Coach House
The Oakville Museum Coach House Restoration Project by +VG Architects (The Ventin Group Ltd.), created a much-anticipated addition to the Oakville Museum's cultural and heritage programming capacity. The 122-year-old Ontario building is a fine example of the picturesque Shingle style. The exterior charms the eye with eclectic features such as the steeply pitched cross-gable roof and its irregular slopes, eyebrow dormers, bell-cast and bowed projections, shingled cupola, and bay window and mullioned windows. The Coach House is part of the historic, +VG-restoreed Erchless Estate overlooking Lake Ontario, which includes the Customs House (1856); Italianate-style residence (1858), now the Oakville Museum; and Post Office (1835).
